A device has been invented that is basically an anal plug that is tapes to a woman during 2nd stage of labour to prevent piles developing.

No seriously

Ok so part of me really wants to laugh.

Another part wonders how it works

The other part says where will anything below the babies head in the rectum go?

And what if the woman needs to poo as the baby is born?

That was kind of my 3rd point!

But surely piles have in pregnancy too?

oops I missed your third point lol

When you read the sales spiel on the site it says it was designed because it is tiring for the nurse to hold her hand there for many hours as the baby is born. Is it normal for a midwife to hold her fingers on a woman's anus as she gives birth?

Nope. That is not normal. * sometimes* you meet midwives who guard the perineum...certainly not the anus though.

So as a result of this man being at one childbirth and seeing an issue with how things were done, I wonder how many woman will have a plastic butt plug taped to their behind as they give birth?

It Would make me really paranoid having something stuck to my butt, it would make me think about it more than I would if I didn't have it ifyswim?

Not to mention uncomfortable. It would feel like a massive poo was sitting right there I would imagine.

Exactly, I wouldn't be able to concentrate.

No ta not for me lol.
