Here at Midwifery Online we have several different grants to give away to those that need them.

Why are we offering grants?

Because its one of the original aims that we wanted to achieve when we started Midwifery Online. We don't want to just take and take from you but want to offer something back to those who need it, we're kind like that. ;)

We are in the process of revisiting our aims, what we've achieved, what we haven't and if there's anything we would like to add or remove. As you the reader are part of what makes Midwifery Online you are invited to get involved and shape us. We wouldn't be here without you after all.

You can get involved with what we set out to achieve in the future by clicking Our Aims (http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/content/103-Our-Aim).

As I mentioned the grants have come about from an aim we have set and I am proud to say that we are now in a position to offer these (a long time waiting I know), after several successful study days we have achieved the funds to be able to give something back to you the community.

What do we currently have on offer?

At the moment we have two book grants (http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/threads/2312-2-x-Book-Grants-29-02-2012) available of £30 each in the form of an amazon voucher which can be used on books, equipment etc. Preferably we would want these vouchers spent via our own shop which is amazon enabled as it helps us to achieve the next grant for someone else.

We help you, you help us and in turn we BOTH help someone else by the means of making funds available for another grant. Pay it forward style!

There are a few conditions for the grant, which should be expected for any grant really to some degree but ours are as follows -

You must me suffering from some form of hardship.
You will need to write a short piece on why you should have the voucher (approx 100 words), this will be done on the application form.
This grant is available for student midwives and for people studying to strengthen their application for midwifery.

The next lot of grants we have available are for a free place at our upcoming study days (http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/content/152-upcoming-study-days_1). We've vowed from now on to offer at least ONE FREE place at each of our study days to someone who needs it, it's no skin off our nose we LOVE being able to give a fantastic opportunity to someone who may not necessarily of had it. Remember guys we don't do this for the money but do it for the love of midwifery and because we want to help in anyway possible, plus the study day feedback (http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/content/124-testimonials) speaks for its self and puts a smile on ALL our faces!

So at the moment we have one free place available at all of these upcoming study days -

1 x Grant place for the 'Practical Midwifery Skills Workshops' 25/08/2012 (http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/threads/2391-1-x-Grant-place-for-the-Practical-Midwifery-Skills-Workshops-25-08-2012)

1 x Grant place for the 'Making Midwifery Happen' 08/09/2012 (http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/threads/2316-1-x-Grant-place-for-the-Making-Midwifery-Happen-08-09-2012)

&

1 x Grant place for the 'Preparing for your Midwifery Interview' 29/09/2012 (http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/threads/2315-1-x-Grant-place-for-the-Preparing-for-your-Midwifery-Interview-29-09-2012)

Again some conditions apply which are as follows -

You must be suffering from hardship of some kind (you will need to state this on the application form).
You will need to write a short piece on why the day would be of benefit to you (approx 100 words), this will be done on the application form.

There are deadlines for when you can apply for ALL the grants, so have a nose and check them out. If you feel we can help then you can apply for a grant (http://www.midwiferyonline.co.uk/content/160-Submit-A-Grant-Application).

There are a couple of extra conditions which apply to all the grants which are as follows -

You must be a registered member of Midwifery Online.
You must have 5 quality posts on the forum to apply for a grant, you will not be able to see the application form until this has been achieved.

Quick and easy to achieve, we work hard at what we do, spend money out of our own pockets for travel etc (we never take money from the site for our own expenses), so we only think its fair that if you want to apply then you are a part of our community. There are no restrictions on who can join the community and it is FREE to register.

More and more grants will become available as we grow and set new study days in different areas, remember we vowed one free place per study day. What other site/organisation does that?

We also hope to expand out grants to fund those in need to go to workshops/study days which aren't hosted by us, such as the ARM Conference etc.

I hope that fully explains what we are trying to do, what we have to offer and I hope we can really put these to good use and help those who would of missed out on some great opportunities and learning otherwise.

Thanks,
Jade Deverill

P.s Any questions then feel free to ask here or discuss the grants here.

Thank you. I feel you are offering a great opportunity to those who suffer financial hardship or simply struggle with attending the upcoming study days.

Many Thanks
