I was just wondering if anyone has started their personal statement yet for September? In previous years I did like to give my self a couple of months to write it, get it checked, edit it etc to make sure I was 100 % happy.

How much time do you plan on giving your self to write your PS?

Mine I think is pretty much done, I'm not too happy with the end, but don't know how to change it and am out of characters! Have also got most of what I wanted to say into it, but have had to leave bits out, which I'm sure is the same for us all........why can't they just give us an extra 500 characters? That would be a big help! lol :)

You all know that Flopsy is our PS queen? She'll look over any PS to give you point on how to improve it?

I've just submitted mine and wait with bated breath!

I hope it's ok...it's really difficult trying to condense everything you want to say into such a small amount of space. I've left so much out that I think is important. Fingers x'd I've chosen the right stuff to keep in! x

I'll look at it in the Morning when the kids are at nursery x

Started it but struggling a bit! I've bullet pointed what I want to write, now just got to put into sentences!

That's a good start with thr bullet points, some times it can be like getting writers block if you try to write the full thing out straight away.

If you've got bullet points about things you want to say, have a look at skills and qualities you could link to each bullet point. So communication, time keeping, organisation, compassion etc.

This will help you build up a list of key points and transferable skills which you need to show in your PS, it will give you a basis for writing your sentences so you can state your point, the skills and then link them back into the role ;)

Oh my gosh, I honestly think I'm having a meltdown. I've done the worksheets, got lists of transferable skills, what i understand about the role of midwives, etc. Everything is all in bullet points and I cannot form sentences. WHY??? I think 3 years of being a stay at home mum has melted my brain. My PS is now a big fat elephant in the room. I'm completely blocked.

Take some time out away from the kids with a pen and paper.

Then close your eyes, go over memorable days from your work les /experiences, playing out the scences visually in your head.

What roles have you taken your transferable skills from and I'll try to give you some prompts.

I've taken them from waitress, team leader in food outlet, academia- btec national diploma, breastfeeding peer support and baby and child first aid.
I've started to form sentences but any extra help is much appreciated!! Thank you!

Hey,

I believe mine is done :) my form tutor said its great, but hes a law teacher. He doesn't know much about the health and social care sector. so I gave it to another teacher who knows a lot about this :) Hopefully its amazing....otherwise I might have a melt down x
